Brain-Boosting Candles: Study-Enhancing Scents For Your Child

Posted on: 17 February 2015

You want your children's study time to be as fruitful as possible. And believe it or not, you can enhance your children's study room by getting the right aromatic scented candles

Peppermint Mental-Kick

You should consider purchasing a few peppermint-scented candles for your little ones. Peppermint contains several active ingredients like menthol that stimulate the hippocampus area in your brain. This area helps increase your blood circulation, especially the circulation to your brain. Your blood provides oxygen to your brain, so your children may experience the following:

  • Improved focus
  • Greater memory
  • Less fatigue
  • Increased attention

This scented-candle should help your children, especially if they are studying for an upcoming test. Your children may benefit from this scent if they are learning a new concept. So you can talk to any of your child's teachers to find out what they are learning at the moment to create the right scent at home.

Clear Your Children's Mind

As you know, stress or anxiety can disrupt your children's ability to learn or study. But you can take care of that issue with the right scents. Some scents can reduce your cortisol levels and give you more mental clarity, like the following:

  • Lemon
  • Lavender
  • Jasmine

Jasmine is an interesting little scent that helps you relax and will uplift your spirits. Studies have shown that jasmine contains anti-depressant ingredients that can help your children get through stressful school work.

Lavender is another smell that can reduce the stress-levels and improve mental clarity. The reason lavender is such an effective mental pacifier and clarifier is because it contains linalool. Linalool is what stimulates your olfactory senses and affects your brain. Remember to use the lavender-scented candle for just a few minutes so that your children do not get too relaxed, as linalool can also make you sleepy. But this would be a good thing if your children are preparing for bed, as sleep increases mental acuity and memory retention.

You should also consider lemon oil to stimulate your children's brain. Lemon oil is a calming smell that also intensifies mental focus and clarity.

As you can see, smells can be quite effective as long as you choose the right smells. Be sure you purchase candles that use natural oils from the aforementioned sources to improve the brain-enhancing capabilities.

As you can see, you can make a brain-enhancing study room for your children and make their room smell wonderful, too.
